basketball, opens their doors of Courtside Academy for the first time. To

"More and more kids want to play basketball, but there's a problem." Kathy Giegel,
creator and owner of Courtside Kids explains, "It use to be, school leagues were
made up of anyone who wanted to play basketball, could. But now since there is such
a great interest in the game, there is try outs to get on the school team.
If your son or daughter is trying out for a team and has entered the playing field
later in age than the others, they are at a disadvantage because they didn't learn
all the basics about basketball when the other kids did. So now you have a child
who wants to play basketball but can't make the school team. Their alternative is
to find a rec league to play on. But the rec league won't always have the time or
the resources to teach them all the basics to play competitively."
Kathy, who has coached basketball for over 23 years in the private and public
schools, finds that as a coach you run out of time to work with each of the kids
individually. The solution was to create a place where anyone who wants to learn the
game, including parents, coaches, and kids, can do it at their own pace.
In Courtside Basketball Basics 101, the first of several programs to become
available, viewers can learn by visual and audio all about the court and its'
positions like you were building a basketball court yourself. You'll learn about
skills to play basketball including the different types of passes, scoring baskets,
fouls, offense and defense and a lot more.

And to make sure they are learning the material there are quizzes after each lesson.
